The BFI Center, operated by Building Futures Inc., is a Black-owned and operated 501(c)3 nonprofit community hub where wellness, creativity, connection, and entrepreneurship come together.

We are dedicated to enriching, educating, and empowering underserved communities to thrive. Founded in 2010, BFI provides accessible, trauma-informed programs that bring together youth development, education, mentorship, leadership, wellness, creativity, and community connection.

Our work is centered around two core program areas: The BFI Leadership Academy and A.C.T.I.V.E. Wellness.

Our youth development and mentoring program supports young people through school-based, afterschool, summer break and community programming. Participants engage in academic support and tutoring, social-emotional & project based learning, mentoring, leadership development, STEAM, financial and digital literacy, career exploration, performing arts, life skills, civic engagement, service learning, field trips, and hands-on enrichment experiences.

Through learning pods, youth leadership opportunities, peer mentoring, and real-world experiences, we help young people strengthen their confidence, academic success, emotional intelligence, decision-making, communication, and leadership skills while building positive relationships with caring adults and peers.

Our community wellness initiative makes mental, emotional, and physical wellness accessible to individuals and families through free, culturally affirming experiences.

BFI Offers Free Community Wellness Classes

Our community is invited to participate in a variety of FREE weekly wellness classes and experiences, including: Yoga • Sound Bowl Meditation • Group Therapy • Xtreme Hip Hop Step Aerobics • Chair Fitness • Cardio Kickboxing • Line Dance • Rebounding Trampoline and more! Classes are designed to make wellness accessible, welcoming, and enjoyable for our community. Class schedules and availability may vary, so check our current calendar for upcoming sessions.

Creative Joy

Our quarterly Creative Joy Art Therapy Workshops combine creativity, connection, and wellness in one immersive experience. Explore activities such as sewing, candle making, 3D canvas painting, diamond painting, seed planting, vision boards, custom crafts, and more while enjoying a relaxed community atmosphere. Each Creative Joy experience offers something new to discover.

The BFI Center is the physical home where many of these experiences come together. It's an intentional community wellness and creative hub designed for people to create, connect, learn, move, breathe, and reset. 

The Center includes The Lab, our creative and flexible studio space; the BFI Zen Den, an immersive relaxation space featuring a full-body 4D zero-gravity massage chair and projected soundscape; the BFI Welcome Lounge; and our in-house custom design and retail space. Have an idea? Bring it to BFI. 

Through our One-Stop Custom Shop, BFI creates personalized products in-house, including but not limited to: personalized tumblers, mugs, apparel, hats, keychains, magnets, acrylic cubes, specialty gifts, event items, branded merchandise, and more.
